As a working farm for well over a century, this West Alabama preserve has been home to generations of family members that value the land and heritage of the farming tradition. Today, the Hardy, Wood, and Norwood families manage the family farm for the enjoyment of family members and as a respite for those hunters looking for an opportunity to spend time with friends and business associates for an exciting day in the field. Rolling pasture land and hay fields, divided by fingers of hardwood bottom lands and scrub cedar groves, provide a diverse habitat for wildlife. Management for wildlife includes enhancement of the acreage with annual plantings of grasses and grain for quail and turkey and numerous food plots for deer. Lakes, small ponds and creeks dot the landscape and provide a critical source of water for wildlife and an excellent opportunity to fish for bass, bream and catfish. The 115-year old farmhouse, built by the great, great, great grandfather of managing owner Don Wood, serves as the base for all hunts. The five bedroom lodge can accommodate groups up to eight people. In addition, Wilkes Creek Plantation offers a newly constructed lodging facility which will accommodate larger groups. Please visit our website at www.wilkescreekplantation.com for a complete list of available hunting packages and rates. |
